If you cut your finger while chopping vegetables for a Vegan dish, is it still a Vegan dish?
Or does that No Harm thing only apply to animals?
I've been trying to eat healthier lately and exploring the world of vegan/vegetarian foods. I've lost about 20 pounds since I started this about 3 months ago. And that's actually gone down (fast food binge last week).
One thing I dislike about this new diet is that I'm hungry all the freaking time. It doesn't go away (except for that fast food binge). I snack on apples, carrots, and almonds all day long. Tonight's dinner was a vegetable stew. My stomach is physically full, but I'm still hungry. And, right now I'm watching Food Network and they're cooking bacon. Ugh.
My goal isn't to become vegan or vegetarian one day. I just want to eat healthier so that I can be healthier and maybe lose some weight as well. I still eat meat. I've just cut down a lot.
Here are some of the foods I've tried:
Kale - This stuff is awful. I tried some homemade kale at the Poky farmer's market and I thought, oh maybe she didn't make it right, because all I ever hear about kale is how awesome it is. Then I bought some Bombay Curry flavored kale chips at the store. Still yuck. I cannot be converted to a kale eater.
Soy Milk - This stuff is awesome. I don't really like milk, so that's a pretty easy product to replace. Soy milk goes down smooth and comes in great flavors. Colsen doesn't like it though. We still buy a gallon of milk every week.
Fake Cheese - I tried some sort of cheese product made out of almond. I ate it in some grilled cheese for lunch today. Not great. But not bad either. Jury's still out on this one.
Tofu - Blah. I don't like tofu. I don't like the consistency or the taste. And no, marinating it for a day doesn't get rid of the crap taste.
I haven't tried any new vegetables, but I'm not really picky with these. I'm getting kind of tired of salad though. I need some new salad dressings.
Apples are the only fruit I like.
Hopefully I can stick with this diet. And hopefully Colsen will start eating these foods with me. He likes to turn his nose up and have me make some spaghetti or macaroni and cheese for him.
