Valentines, Stamps, Biathletes, and Such.

Yesterday was Valentine's Day. Not that I noticed. Well, actually I did, but not in a good way. Apparently, everyone takes Valentine's Day off so that they can spend it with their special someone. I on the other hand didn't mind having to work. The combination of the two created a little bit too much work for yours truly. I went in at 10am and left work a mere 16 hours later at 3am. Thank you, all you Valentine nuts.

Valentine's Day isn't really one of my favorite holidays anyway. One thing I do enjoy about it though, is giving out those little Valentines that little kids pass out at school. This year I went with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (I actually bought these last year, but like my Mother's birthday card, they didn't get sent out.) This year, I was on the ball and sent out my little Valentine's early. After I sent these out however, I come to find that the price of stamps as gone up since last I purchased them. So, how do you like that? A postage due Valentine's present from your good buddy, Brian.

I guess the Olympics are in full swing. Now, I've always been a curling (sort of a glorified shuffle board on ice) kind of guy, but this year a couple of guys have turned me to the biathlon. Quite exciting it is. You get to ski and shoot stuff. Now, my friend Gregg suggests the Dick Cheney strategy for the biathlon, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Apparently this would not have been a good strategy for the American entrant in the 10k, because it seems he could not hit any targets. It seems he couldn't count to five either and went ahead and took an extra penalty loop. Long story short the combination of bad marksmanship and extra skiing earned him a respectable 80th out of 90 in the 10k biathlon. I'm so proud to be an American. Evidently, we have to cheat and make up sports in order to win gold.

Well, I'm going to go buy my lotto ticket for the night. Wish me luck!

Comments:
Absolutely adore this line from the biathlete article you linked to: "That's the best race I've ever done," said Hanevold, who has been a biathlete for 21 of his 36 years. Sounds like came out of the closet at fifteen, then.

I am a lotto loser and I also am a curling fan. yessss
